Can the Anti Smoking Law in Britain Force Bingo Enthusiasts On to the Web?

An abundance has been reported in the papers just a while ago about the bingo industry struggling because of the anti cigarette law in England. Things have become so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for massive tax breaks to assist in keeping the businesses from going bankrupt. However does the web version of this classic game provide a reprieve, or will it not compare to its land based peer?

Bingo is an classic game generally enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. In any case the game lately had experienced a recent return in appeal with younger people opting to hit the bingo parlours instead of the bars on a Friday night. This is all about to change with the introduction of the cigarette ban around United Kingdom.

Players will no longer be allowed to puff on cigarettes at the same time dabbing numbers. Starting in the summer of 2007 every public location will no longer be permitted to allow cigarettes in their venues and this includes Bingo halls, which are possibly the most common locations where many people like to puff on cigarettes.

The effects of the cigarette ban can already be looked at in Scotland where cigarettes are already not permitted in the bingo parlors. Profits have plummeted and the business is absolutely fighting for its life. But where have the players gone? Surely they have not abandoned this ancient game?

The answer is on the web. Gamblers are now realizing that they can enjoy bingo using their computer whilst enjoying a beer and smoke and still have a chance at monstrous jackpots. This is a recent development and has happened almost perfectly with the ban on cigarettes.

Of course gambling on on the internet will never replace the communal part of going over to the bingo parlor, but for a group of men and women the governing edicts have left many bingo enthusiasts with little choice.
