Bingo in Oklahoma

Oklahoma has long been synonymous with Bingo. That’s because the Native bands of Oklahoma have run Bingo sessions for decades. Patrons from many of the surrounding states pile in passenger cars and travel into Oklahoma to play Bingo over the weekends.

The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act followed a precedent setting ruling by The U.S. Supreme Court just the year before. Since that time, 23 of the 39 Amerindian bands located in Oklahoma have opened bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the first Oklahoma Native tribes to take advantage of the gaming restrictions, and today operate 10 casinos of their own. Bingo is the game on which the above-mentioned gambling dens were founded. computerized games such as slot machine games weren’t authorized, since they are thought to contribute to gambling addiction at a higher rate than bingo.

In the past few years, Oklahoma rules has changed to permit massive American Indian betting gambling halls. You will now find Amerindian gambling halls with slots, video poker and black jack tables. Craps and roulette are still not legal in the Native casinos as of yet, but that is just a waiting game. Nobody can authority what having different games in the bingo houses will do for the popularity of bingo.
